Television actor and West End producer, Paul Nicholas, has launched a new performing arts school in Crewe.

The school, which will run classes for all ages on Saturdays, is the 23rd franchised site that makes up the Paul Nicholas School of Acting and Performing Arts, reports the Crewe and Nantwich Guardian newspaper.

Nicholas was a television favourite during the 80s and 90s, starring most notably in the BAFTA award-winning BBC television series Just Good Friends. He was also nominated for the Best Actor award for the series Bust. He is currently producing Grease in the West End.

Sean Boothman, who has established the Crewe school, said: “We can also announce that Crewe PNSA has secured the contract with the producers of Gridiron, the UK’s latest British produced feature film, to supply any young actors in its cast.

“This will be a major UK feature film produced in the same genre as Full Monty with a major British and USA cast list.

“To be in with a chance of a role any young actor needs to be signed with Crewe PNSA by the end of September so we can start getting them ready for auditions and places will be limited.

“Our students will also be working with radio and as well as acting, will be taught film and film making, and voiceover production for radio and TV.

“Students of all ages can immerse themselves in the world of theatre, acting and film, and all students get to go on the set of Gridiron and meet the cast irrespective of whether they gain a part.”
