School for stars of tomorrow

A DRAMA school is set to open in Derby later this year with students promised tutoring from professionals boasting West End credentials.

Live entertainment producer Oceantide Entertainments is opening the school, called Young Persons Theatre Troupe, which will be attended by 60 students each year.

Among the tutors will be Stu Bridget, musical director for Beauty and the Beast and Mamma Mia, with a number of other professionals currently in negotiations to sign up.

Craig Saunders, producer at Oceantide Entertainments, which operates in Heanor, said the school would “help put Derby back on the map of performing excellence”.

Classes will be delivered at the Robert Ludlum Theatre at St Benedict Catholic School and Performing Arts College, in Duffield Road, Darley Abbey, from September.
