‘The Lord of Star Searching' is at it again, this time he’s on the look out for a Dorothy for a new West End production of The Wizard of Oz.

andrewThe hunt for the next Connie Fisher will be broadcast on Saturday nights on the BBC, with Andrew Lloyd Webber leading the judging panel. The other judges are yet to be announced.

Auditions to find Dorothy and her dog, Toto, will begin in early 2010. Graham Norton, who presented the live shows of How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? and Any Dream Will Do, will return to host the new show.

The original 1939 film of The Wizard of Oz made Judy Garland a household name across the globe.

Reports in recent months had indicated that Lloyd Webber was looking at taking the successful format across to rival station ITV.

The announcement that the BBC are to continue with the show must come as a blow to ITV bosses who are battling against loss of revenue and are keen to make their output as strong as possible.

But Andrew must know, There’s No Place Like the BBC.
