Tom Daley gives up diving to become an actor

Olympic bronze medalist Tom Daley dropped into the Fourthwall offices to let us know about his new challenge – becoming an actor.

“I’ve decided – give up the diving,” he says. “Now I’m going to be an actor, jumping in the deep end in a different way!”

He says the best way to learn is by reading magazines, and it is Fourthwall that he has picked to help him on his way to tread the ‘theatrical’ boards. “Fourthwall – really good magazine, with loads of great interviews… I’ve always learned to use 110% with everything I do, and the Fourthwall teaches you that.”

Although we think it would be hilarious if Tom Daley really was scanning the pages of Fourthwall for advice on a career change, the tongue-in-cheek comments actually come from real actor Luke Kempner. The impersonator was at Fourthwall HQ for an interview about his career and forthcoming stint at the St James Theatre in London.

The Only Way is Downton will play at the London venue later this month following a sell-out Edinburgh Fringe run where he plays characters from Downton Abbey, as well as characters such as Daley. Kempner said he is “very excited” about the transfer and forthcoming tour.

Fourthwall will have more details for you later this week.
