Mr & Mrs West End, as Howard Panter & wife Rosemary Squires OBE are affectionately known, were recently named by The Stage as the most influential people in British Theatre. It’s an accolade they have received three times now; as the chief executives of Ambassadors Theatre Group (ATG), owners of thirty-nine UK theatres, and producers of many hit West End shows, they are undisputed theatrical royalty, with a string of hits to their name, including in recent years, Guys & Dolls, The Misanthrope, Monty Python’s Spamalot, and The Mountaintop in the West End and now on Broadway, starring Samuel L. Jackson. Internationally their hits include West Side Story, The Rocky Horror Show and Slava’s Snowshow.

ATG also has a wholly owned subsidiary company, Sonia Friedman Productions, which has been behind hits such as the Tennant/Tate Much Ado About Nothing, Keira Knightley in The Children’s Hour and of course, the Jerry Mitchell directed smash hit Legally Blonde.

Mitchell will also take on the Creative Producer role, and will focus on a wide range of projects

And now we have a further collaboration between ATG and acclaimed Director/Choreographer Mitchell as they announce their partnernship with the Michigan born artist, to launch Jerry Mitchell Productions. Jerry Mitchell Productions will work to develop, create and produce new productions for ATG theatres in London, New York and around the world.

Drawing on their transatlantic experiences, the combination of Panter, Squire, Mitchell and ATG marks a unique new way of working, with Jerry Mitchell Productions promising to develop new work and commission innovative versions of classic pieces.

Mitchell, who will take on the role of Creative Producer, will also focus on a wide range of projects, including directing and choreographing productions. He declared himself “extremely excited to have the chance to bring in fellow artists to develop their own work.”

Born in Hillingdon, Panter began his career as as Stage Manager at The Royal Court. He met Squire working in the Box Office of The Queen’s Theatre in 1979 andthey married in 1994. Mitchell studied in St Louis and began his career as a dancer on the Broadway stage. Passion, determination and a love of the theatre have driven them on to become one of the most powerful transatlantic triumvirates in theatre today.
