The talent development department of The Old Vic, Old Vic New Voices, has announced its 2013 season of work. Explaining the season, which will see OVNV “being led rather than lead”, director Steve Winter said “This year will be about theatrical match making…offering space, money, commissions, mentoring and tickets.”

The focus of OVNV 2013 is on developing the next generation of writers, new work commissioned by OVNV, developing theatre for the community and engaging schools in The Old Vic’s main house programme.

Some of the highlights of the season include OVNV Lab, a space to generate and showcase work, T.S.Eliot Commissions - a two-year long, transatlantic scheme of twenty new plays, a Community Company connecting diverse individuals in the community, and Start UpFunds for research & development work or to supplement existing funds to bring projects to fruition.

Other key programmes in the season will see twenty actors receive special training through unique workshops with industry mentors as part of Eversheds Twenty, forty schools to be part of Schools’ Club, involving free tickets, free workshops and a comprehensive education pack, while more wide-ranging projects include Community Access, a range of opportunities for local people, and Schools Resources - a range of educational materials freely available to 5,000 members via the OVNV website.

OVNV has been working with new, emerging talent, schools and communities for over eight years, in which time, more than 50,000 individuals have benefitted from the high quality theatre provision that is the cornerstone of their work.
