Firth delivers perfect speech at Golden Globes
The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards were hosted by Ricky Gervais in Beverly Hills last night.
Add a commentColin Firth in The King's SpeechHot favourite for best actor in a drama was awarded to British actor Colin Firth for his role as King George VI in The King’s Speech. Although Firth was expected to win, that would be the movie’s only success of the evening, despite having seven nominations.
“Getting through the mid stage of your life, with your dignity and judgement intact, can be somewhat precarious,” said Firth in his acceptance speech. “Right now this is all that stands between me and a Harley Davidson.”

The 50 year old actor thanked his “supernaturally talented fellow cast members”, especially his “exquisite no-nonsense Queen” Helena Bonham Carter.
The Social Network and Glee were the key winners at the awards.
While Glee won best TV musical or comedy and two actors honoured in supporting roles, The Social Network collected best film drama, best direction, best screenplay and music. The movie about the formation of Facebook overshadowed the evening.
